INTRODUCTION
January and February 2022 the Yorkville Joint #2 School District embarked on a strategic planning process in order to define its direction for the future. The team met on Fridays and Saturdays. Composition of the team spanned from community members, business leaders, teachers, support staff members, parents, and administrators. By design, the committee makeup was about 50% school employees and 50% community members.
The charge of the Strategic Planning Team included the development of a new District Mission, Vision, Beliefs, Pillars, and Strategic Objectives.
The committee studied test data, academic trends, courses, attendance, enrollment, open enrollment, graduation rates, culture, education trends, budget, maintenance and IT reports. Additionally, the committee identified strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats facing the District. This process provided all committee members with the necessary background information to begin the journey of identifying a new direction for the Yorkville Joint #2 School District.
